AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing ALL students
for college readiness and success in a global society.
What is AVID?
AVID is about opening doors and giving students OPTIONS! AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It is a RIGOROUS academic elective, which focuses on fostering community while reinforcing literacy skills and improving student organization in order to maximize success in high school, college, and beyond. In addition to this instruction, students in AVID can anticipate guest speakers, college tours, weekly tutorials scholarship/FAFSA application support, and distinction at Commencement.
Who qualifies?
To qualify, you should fall under at least one of the descriptions below:
- Self-motivated and driven to attend college
- First generation in your family to attend college
- Receive free/reduced lunch
- Single-parent household
- Language other than English spoken at home
- Students in the academic middle seeking additional support in a rigorous curriculum
- Special circumstances

How can I sign up?
Incoming ninth grade prospective students must complete an application. That must be returned to Ms. Jett.
