core studies ...math
The Mathematics Department at Lansdowne High School encourages all students to choose appropriate courses that will challenge their abilities and enable them to see math in a real - life context. Whether it’s the traditional graduation path of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II or an advanced path including both AP Calculus and AP Statistics, Mathematics at Lansdowne is active, “ hands on”, collaborative learning using the technology of the discipline.

All diploma bound students are required to successfully complete Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. Students entering Lansdowne as of 2005 are also required to pass the State High School Assessment in Algebra and Data Analysis in order to graduate. This test is directly linked to the content of the Algebra I curriculum, although subsequent classes will utilize and expand upon these skills.

Tutoring is offered on a regular basis by each child’s teacher and within the Viking Academy in grade 9.
